An Bíobla Naofa 1981

Claon mo chroí i leith d’fhorálacha; agus ná claon chun sainte é.

Salm 119:36

Tabhair foláireamh dóibh siúd a bhfuil flúirse de mhaoin an tsaoil seo acu, gan bheith mórálach astu féin agus gan a muinín a chur i saibhreas díomuan ach i nDia a chuireann gach ní ar fáil dúinn go fial go mbainfimis só as.

1 Tiomóid 6:17

Salm 119 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

33 Múin dom slí do reachtanna, a Thiarna;
agus comhlíonfaidh mé go cruinn iad.
34 Déan mo theagasc d’fhonn do dhlí a chomhlíonadh
agus a choimeád ó chroí.
35 Treoraigh mé ar chosán d’aitheanta,
óir is ann atá mo thaitneamh.
36 Claon mo chroí i leith d’fhorálacha;
agus ná claon chun sainte é.
37 Iompaigh mo shúile chun nach bhfeicfidh siad díomhaointeas;
déan mo bheochan trí do shlíse.
38 Cuir le do ghealltanas do do ghiolla;
le go mbeadh eagla ar a thuilleadh romhat.
39 Coinnigh i bhfad uaim an aithis is eagal liom,
óir is aoibhinn iad d’fhoraitheanta.

1 Tiomóid 6 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

14 an aithne seo a choimeád gan cháim gan locht go dtí taibhsiú ár dTiarna Íosa Críost.
15 Taispeánfaidh Dia dúinn é ina mhithidí féin:
An Dia beannaithe atá ina aon cheannasaí,
atá ina rí ar na ríthe
agus ina thiarna ar na tiarnaí;
16 an tAon atá buan gan bás,
agus a chónaíonn sa solas doshroichte.
Aon duine riamh ní fhaca é
ná ní féidir dó é a fheiceáil.
Glóir dó agus cumhacht shíoraí. Amen.
17 Tabhair foláireamh dóibh siúd a bhfuil flúirse de mhaoin an tsaoil seo acu, gan bheith mórálach astu féin agus gan a muinín a chur i saibhreas díomuan ach i nDia a chuireann gach ní ar fáil dúinn go fial go mbainfimis só as.
18 Abair leo an mhaith a dhéanamh, bheith saibhir i ndea-oibreacha, bheith fial flaithiúil lena gcuid
19 agus stór a chur i dtaisce dóibh féin a bheidh ina bhun maith acu san am atá le teacht chun an bheatha úd a shealbhú atá ina beatha dáiríre.
20 A Thiomóid, cumhdaigh an taisce a fágadh i do chúram, agus seachain an chaint bhaoth dhíomhaoin agus ráite bréige an eolais úd nach bhfuil ann ach eolas in ainm,

Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to selfish gain!

Psalm 119:36

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.

1 Timothy 6:17

Salm 119 (English Standard Version)

33 Teach me, O Lord, the way of your statutes;
and I will keep it to the end.
34 Give me understanding, that I may keep your law
and observe it with my whole heart.
35 Lead me in the path of your commandments,
for I delight in it.
36 Incline my heart to your testimonies,
and not to selfish gain!
37 Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things;
and give me life in your ways.
38 Confirm to your servant your promise,
that you may be feared.
39 Turn away the reproach that I dread,
for your rules are good.

1 Tiomóid 6 (English Standard Version)

14 to keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 which he will display at the proper time—he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords,
16 who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.
17 As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
18 They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share,
19 thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
20 O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge,”
