Glanaigí go maith bhur bhfearann branair, ná síolchuirigí i measc spíonta.

Irimia 4:3

Cuirigí síolta an ionracais daoibh féin; bainigí fómhar an bhuanghrá.

Hóisé 10:12

Irimia 4 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

1 “Más mian leat filleadh, a Iosrael,
– is é an Tiarna a labhraíonn –
Is ormsa nár mhór duit filleadh.
Cuir deireadh le do ghráiniúlacht
agus ní bheidh aon chall agat mé a sheachaint.
2 Má mhionnaíonn tú: ‘Go maire an Tiarna’
go fírinneach, go fíréanta agus go macánta,
beannóidh na ciníocha iad féin ionat,
agus is ionat a bheidh a nglóir.”
3 Óir is mar seo a deir an Tiarna
le fir Iúdá agus le háitritheoirí Iarúsailéim:
“Glanaigí go maith bhur bhfearann branair,
ná síolchuirigí i measc spíonta.
4 Timpeallghearraigí sibh féin don Tiarna,
bainigí díbh forchraiceann bhur gcroí,
(a fheara Iúdá, agus a áitritheoirí Iarúsailéim),
ar fhaitíos go léimfeadh m’fhearg amach ar nós tine,
agus go loscfadh agus nach bhféadfadh aon duine í a mhúchadh,
mar gheall ar olc bhur ngníomhartha.
5 Foilsígí é in Iúdá, fógraígí é in Iarúsailéim!
Séidigí an stoc faoin tuaith,
fógraígí os ard agus abraigí:
‘Cruinnígí! teannaigí leis na bailte daingne!’
6 Déanaigí eolas an bhealaigh go Síón;
teithigí, ná déanaigí moill!
Tugaimse olc oraibh ón Tuaisceart,
milleadh mór.

Hóisé 10 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

9 Ó aimsir Ghibeá amach ní raibh Iosrael saor ó pheaca;
níor éirigh siad as riamh!
Nach i nGibeá a bhéarfaidh an cogadh orthu mar sin?
10 Tiocfaidh mé i gcoinne na gcladhairí
chun iad a smachtú.
Cruinneoidh mé na náisiúin ina n-aghaidh
chun cimí a dhéanamh díobh
in éiric an dá choir a rinne siad.
11 Budóg dhea-riata ba ea Eafráim,
ar bhreá léi bheith ag bualadh arbhair;
mise a chuir cuing ar a muineál álainn.
Is ea, ghléas mé Eafráim chun treafa,
agus Iacób chun fuirste.
12 Cuirigí síolta an ionracais daoibh féin;
bainigí fómhar an bhuanghrá;
brisigí bhur bhfearann branair,
óir is mithid daoibh an Tiarna a lorg
nó go dtiocfaidh sé chun an fhíréantacht a shileadh oraibh.
13 Shaothraigh sibh an t-olc;
ba í an chlaidhreacht bhur bhfómhar,
agus d’ith sibh toradh an éithigh. Ó tá muinín agat as do chumhacht féin
agus as oll-líon do laochra,
14 éireoidh gleo an chogaidh i measc do mhuintire,
agus scriosfar do dhúnta uile,
mar a scrios Sealman Béit Arabael lá an chatha,
nuair a rinneadh smidiríní den mháthair agus dá clann.
15 Tarraingeoidh Béit Éil an íde chéanna oraibhse,
in éiric bhur mioscaise gan teorainn.
Le lonradh lae léirscriosfar rí Iosrael.

Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.

Jeremiah 4:3

Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love.

Hosea 10:12

Irimia 4 (English Standard Version)

1 “If you return, O Israel,
declares the Lord,
to me you should return.
If you remove your detestable things from my presence,
and do not waver,
2 and if you swear, ‘As the Lord lives,’
in truth, in justice, and in righteousness,
then nations shall bless themselves in him,
and in him shall they glory.”
3 For thus says the Lord to the men of Judah and Jerusalem:
“Break up your fallow ground,
and sow not among thorns.
4 Circumcise yourselves to the Lord;
remove the foreskin of your hearts,
O men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem;
lest my wrath go forth like fire,
and burn with none to quench it,
because of the evil of your deeds.”
5 Declare in Judah, and proclaim in Jerusalem, and say,
“Blow the trumpet through the land;
cry aloud and say,
‘Assemble, and let us go
into the fortified cities!’
6 Raise a standard toward Zion,
flee for safety, stay not,
for I bring disaster from the north,
and great destruction.

Hóisé 10 (English Standard Version)

9 From the days of Gibeah, you have sinned, O Israel;
there they have continued.
Shall not the war against the unjust overtake them in Gibeah?
10 When I please, I will discipline them,
and nations shall be gathered against them
when they are bound up for their double iniquity.
11 Ephraim was a trained calf
that loved to thresh,
and I spared her fair neck;
but I will put Ephraim to the yoke;
Judah must plow;
Jacob must harrow for himself.
12 Sow for yourselves righteousness;
reap steadfast love;
break up your fallow ground,
for it is the time to seek the Lord,
that he may come and rain righteousness upon you.
13 You have plowed iniquity;
you have reaped injustice;
you have eaten the fruit of lies.
Because you have trusted in your own way
and in the multitude of your warriors,
14 therefore the tumult of war shall arise among your people,
and all your fortresses shall be destroyed,
as Shalman destroyed Beth-arbel on the day of battle;
mothers were dashed in pieces with their children.
15 Thus it shall be done to you, O Bethel,
because of your great evil.
At dawn the king of Israel
shall be utterly cut off.
