<< An Briathar do Dé Sathairn, 13 Meán Fómhair, 2025

An Bíobla Naofa 1981

Míníodh duit, a dhuine, céard is maith agus céard a iarrann an Tiarna ort. Níl uaidh ach seo: an ceart a dhéanamh, buanghrá a chothú agus siúl go humhal i bhfochair do Dhé.

Míocá 6:8

Má tá grá agaibh dom, coinneoidh sibh m’aitheanta.

Eoin 14:15

Míocá 6 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

5 Cuimhnigh ansin ar a raibh beartaithe ag Bálác, rí Mhóáb,
agus ar an bhfreagra a thug Balám mac Bheór air
agus tú ag gluaiseacht ó Shitím go Gilgeál
chun go dtuigfidh tú na gníomhartha slánaitheacha a rinne mé.”
6 “Créad leis a dtiocfaidh mé os comhair an Tiarna
nó a sléachtfaidh mé do Dhia neimhe?
An dtiocfaidh mé os a chomhair le híobartaigh lándóite
nó le laonna aon bhliana?
7 Ar mhaith leis na mílte reithe
nó deich míle de shruthanna ola?
An ofrálfaidh mé dó an mac is sine liom mar chúiteamh i mo chionta,
toradh mo choirp in éiric peacaí m’anama?”
8 Míníodh duit, a dhuine, céard is maith
agus céard a iarrann an Tiarna ort.
Níl uaidh ach seo: an ceart a dhéanamh,
buanghrá a chothú
agus siúl go humhal i bhfochair do Dhé.
9 Éist! Tá an Tiarna ag glaoch ar an gcathair
(is den chríonnacht d’ainm a eaglú).
Éistigí, a threibh agus a chomhairle na cathrach sin,
10 An amhlaidh a chaithfidh mé an taisceadh éagórach
agus an buiséal gann mallaithe a cheadú freisin?
11 An amhlaidh a chaithfidh mé saorbhreith a thabhairt
ar lucht na scálaí éagothroma
agus an mhála de mheáchain mhealltacha?

Eoin 14 (An Bíobla Naofa 1981)

12 Nó murab é sin, creidigí mar gheall ar na hoibreacha féin.
Amen, Amen, a deirim libh,
an té a chreideann ionamsa,
na hoibreacha a dhéanaimse,
déanfaidh seisean iad chomh maith,
agus déanfaidh sé oibreacha is mó ná iad;
mar táimse ag dul chun an Athar.
13 Cibé ní a iarrfaidh sibh i m’ainm déanfaidh mé é,
i dtreo go dtabharfaí glóir don Athair tríd an Mac.
14 Má iarrann sibh aon ní orm i m’ainm,
déanfaidh mé é.
15 Má tá grá agaibh dom, coinneoidh sibh m’aitheanta.
16 Agus iarrfaidh mé ar m’Athair é,
agus tabharfaidh sé Abhcóide eile daoibh
chun fanacht faraibh go deo –
17 Spiorad na Fírinne,
nach féidir don saol a ghlacadh,
mar ní fheiceann sé é ná ní aithníonn sé é.
Ach aithníonn sibhse é
mar fanann sé faraibh, agus beidh sé ionaibh.
18 Ní fhágfaidh mé in bhur ndílleachtaí sibh;
tiocfaidh mé ar ais chugaibh.

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Micah 6:8

If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

John 14:15

Míocá 6 (English Standard Version)

5 O my people, remember what Balak king of Moab devised,
and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him,
and what happened from Shittim to Gilgal,
that you may know the saving acts of the Lord.”
6 “With what shall I come before the Lord,
and bow myself before God on high?
Shall I come before him with burnt offerings,
with calves a year old?
7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams,
with ten thousands of rivers of oil?
Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression,
the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”
8 He has told you, O man, what is good;
and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?
9 The voice of the Lord cries to the city—
and it is sound wisdom to fear your name:
“Hear of the rod and of him who appointed it!
10 Can I forget any longer the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked,
and the scant measure that is accursed?
11 Shall I acquit the man with wicked scales
and with a bag of deceitful weights?

Eoin 14 (English Standard Version)

12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,
17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.
18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
